Anne M. Boyle

d. December 31, 2025

Anne Boyle, (nee McDonald), 90, of Wyndmoor, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at Chestnut Hill Hospital surrounded by her family. Born in New Philadelphia, Schuylkill County, PA to the late James McDonald and Alice McDonald (nee Fogerty), Anne was a graduate of Pottsville Catholic and Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing.

She is predeceased by her husband, William J. Boyle, Sr., with whom she shared 43 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2001, and by her brothers: C.S.M. James McDonald (survived by his wife, Judith), The Honorable John J. McDonald (the late Sharon), and Gerald McDonald (survived by his wife, Nancy). She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Patricia Haberstroh (Charles) and Mary Boyle, and her brother-in-law Bruce Katzmire.

Loving Mother of William J., Jr. (Donna), Michael J. (Susan), James Owen, and Anne Therese Bercaw (Vincent). Proud MomMom of Matthew Bercaw, Brendan Boyle, Katie Gardner (Jeffrey), Ashley Jamison (Nicholas), Liam Boyle, Claire Boyle, Maura Boyle, and Nicole Meehan (Joseph). Proudest Great-Grand MomMom to Vincent Michael Jamison and Keavy Daye Gardner. She is also survived by countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Her career began at St. Christopher’s Children’s Hospital before taking on the role of Head Nurse at the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf in Mt. Airy. She ended her career at Chestnut Hill Pediatrics at the age of 79. A caretaker both by trade and nature, she touched many families and children’s lives over her half century of nursing.

Anne was famous for hosting dinners, holidays, and parties, always extending an open invitation to anyone sure to have a good time. She loved her summers in Sea Isle City, where her long-term rental, MomMom’s yellow house, with just one floor and three bedrooms, was often bursting at the seams with family, friends, and even near strangers - proof that there was always room, no matter how tight the space. Her love of bringing people together extended beyond the Jersey shore and her home in Wyndmoor, as her travels took her to Italy, Ireland, and across the United States accompanying her husband’s work or gathering with her brothers and their children and grandchildren for family reunions.

In her final years, Anne embraced some of life’s happiest moments. She took pride in the accomplishments of her grandchildren, seeing them grow and thrive, and was especially touched when one followed in her nursing footsteps. The summer of 2024 brought a triple celebration with three weddings. It was a role for which she was well prepared, after years of playing “grandmother of the bride” in her living room on sleepover mornings. The following fall, she welcomed two great-grandbabies and cherished holding them both in that same living room.

Anne’s life was a harmonious blend of family, faith, and fun. She remained steadfast in her faith throughout obstacles, including the early loss of her beloved “Big Bill” and a Parkinson’s diagnosis following her retirement, facing both with grace and courage. Through illness and challenges, Anne’s love of life never wavered, and her spirit continues to inspire all who knew her.
