Bernard Kelly Davey was born on March 7th, 1971 to Robert Thomas Davey Sr. and Mary Bridget (nee Kelly) Davey and raised in the Mount Airy section of Philadelphia. He belonged to a large Irish Catholic family, including brothers Thomas Michael Davey Sr., Robert Thomas Davey Jr. (wife Michelle), sister Patricia Marie Kaffenberger (nee Davey), and over 30 first cousins. Bern attended Holy Cross Elementary School and graduated Bishop McDevitt High School as well as attended Temple University. His work varied over the course of his life, from many years at Superfresh in Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia International Airport, and finally as a Team Lead and Licensed Insurance Producer at Independence Blue Cross. He also leaves behind 9 nieces and nephews (Courtney, Brittany, Tom, Jason, Caitlin, Alanna, Reagan, Kennedy and McKinley) who loved Uncle Barney dearly that he doted on. Bern loved the San Diego/LA Chargers despite their constant disappointment, the Phillies, video games, and had a large comic book collection started in his childhood. He was intelligent, strong-willed, and a big reader. He liked his alone time but had an incredible sense of humor and could be the life of the party, whether it was the family all together or when he was often seen at nearby McMenamin's. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones and those who got to know him. The immediate family will have a private burial and will be hosting a sendoff celebration of Bernard at the Chestnut Hill Bocce Club (118 E. Hartwell Lane, Phila PA 19118) on October 19th at 7:30 PM for all those who wish to join in our remembrance of Bern in the way he would have appreciated.
