Catherine Hughes 

Catherine "Kate" Hughes (nee Gilligan), of Flourtown, Pennsylvania, passed away on October 30, 2023. She was born on January 10, 1943, in Philadelphia, PA. 

Catherine, known affectionately as Kate, was a woman of immense kindness and generosity, with a deep love for her family. Left to mourn her loss are her beloved daughter, Sally Inzer (Stephen), son, Michael Bauerle (Catherine), daughter, Patricia Mutzel (Gregory), as well as her two cherished granddaughters, Meghan Mutzel and Rebecca Inzer. Kate is also survived by her loving brothers, twin sister (Sally) and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her dear brother, John P. Gilligan.

Kate received her education at Our Mother of Consolation School and Mount St Joseph Academy and embarked on a successful career. She dedicated over 20 years to the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) and found fulfillment in her role for over 20 years within the Activities Department at Cathedral Village, where her warm smile and caring nature touched the lives of many.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Kate had a passion for gardening. She found solace and happiness in cultivating her garden, nurturing vibrant flowers and lush greenery.  She also loved going to the beach, sitting in the sun, and listening to the soothing sound of the ocean. Her love for nature was a reflection of her gentle and nurturing spirit.

A funeral service will be held to honor Kate's life on Friday, November 3rd at Our Mother of Consolation Church, located at 9 E. Chestnut Hill Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19118. The visitation will commence at 9:00 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am. Catherine will be laid to rest in a private burial, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family.
