Diane L. Whelihan

Diane L. Whelihan, a devoted teacher and cherished sister, passed away on April 13, 2026, at the age of 60. She found her calling in the classroom—especially with her Pre-K students, who ran to her each morning and proudly called her "Miss Diane." She was known for greeting each child with a calm smile and making everyone feel safe, seen, and welcome. Diane brought patience and gentle structure to busy little days, turning story time, songs, art projects, and play into meaningful moments of learning. She took pride in helping children learn their letters and numbers, practice sharing and listening, and build the confidence to try something new---celebrating every small victory along the way. To those who knew her, Diane was a steady presence---warm, generous, and encouraging— and she leaves behind a legacy of care that will be felt for years to come.

Preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret, and her siblings, Daniel and Sharon.

Survived by her siblings John, Sue (Chuck), James (Rose), Cathy (Robert), and Patrick.

Diane was a loving aunt to James (Ashly), Sarah (Ryan), Shelby, Daniel, Brynn, Patrick and Ryan. She was also a great-aunt to Gabriella, Jacob, Liam, and Grayson.

Service: Funeral Mass at Holy Cross Church, Mt. Airy, June 13 at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Diane will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and always held close in the hearts of those who knew her.
