Dorothy V. Dempsey (nee Bilikiewicz)
Passed away peacefully on April 28, 2025 at the age of 95. Dorothy was previously deceased by her beloved husband of 72 years, Jack, in 2023. She was the mother to John (Diane), Denise (Edward) and Kevin (Rosemarie), grandmother to Jason, Ryan, Stephanie, Lisbeth, Rebecca, Brie-Anne, Jessica, Brittany, Christopher, and nine great-grandchildren.
Dorothy, along with her husband Jack, was a business owner in the Port Richmond neighborhood of Philadelphia. She was involved in church, school, community and civic organizations throughout her life serving as the President of the St. Adalbert’s Home and School Organization and the Society of the Lady of Fatima. Dorothy was involved in the City More Beautiful Organization and served as a Block Captain and helped organize the Port Richmond Civic Association. She was also a very active participant in many of the Polish American associations and in 2007, Dorothy and her husband served as the Grand Marshals for the Philadelphia Pulaski Day Parade. When Dorothy and her husband relocated to Chestnut Hill, they joined the community, civic and political organizations. Dorothy loved her garden, the greenery and every dog and animal in Chestnut Hill.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 8th at Our Mother of Consolation Church, 9 E. Chestnut Hill Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19118. Interment will be private on a future date.
In lieu of flowers, and in recognition of Dorothy’s love of dogs and all animals, donations may be made to ACCT Philly, ATTN: Development, 111 W. Hunting Park Ave., Phila., PA 19140.
