Evelyn Asterito

Evelyn Asterito (formerly Walker) 92, passed away peacefully on April 16th surrounded by her loving family.

Evelyn was born on April 8, 1933, in Philadelphia, PA to John and Helen Walker. She graduated from Simon Gratz High School in 1951 where she played the clarinet for the band. After graduation, she was employed as a dental assistant for a local dentist. Evelyn, fondly known as Ebsie to her family and friends, married the love of her life Edmund Asterito Sr. in 1954. They were married for 38 years until Edmund’s passing in 1992.

Evelyn leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories through her 3 children, Elaine (Dennis) of Lansdale, Eugene (Karen) of Lansdale and Edmund, Jr. (Susan) of Warminster. She was a loving and devoted Mom-Mom to 8 grandchildren, Deanna, Kyle, Matthew, Adam, Tara, Giana, Jason, Anthony and 3 great grandchildren Avery, Aiden, and Francesca along with many nieces and nephews who will miss her greatly.

Evelyn enjoyed cooking, baking and crafting, but most of all helping others. She worked as a customer service representative for UPS. After her retirement she cooked for the Sisters of Saint Joseph for more than 20 years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, extended family and friends, summer vacations in Sea Isle and family get-togethers, especially Christmas. She certainly lived her “dash” and will be deeply missed by all.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on April 25th at Saint Genevieve Church, 1225 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown, PA. Visitation will begin at 9:00am, followed by a Mass of a Christian Burial at 10:00am with interment to follow immediately after at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made in Evelyn’s name to the American Diabetes Association, diabetes.org.
