Evelyn V. Edwards

Evelyn Virginia Edwards, 97, of Wyndmoor, Pa., passed away January 10, 2023 at The Artman Home in Ambler. Born in Philadelphia on May 27, 1925, she was the daughter of Raymond Edwards and Wilhelmina Gibbons. “Evie” is survived by her sister, Carole Anne (Gibbons) Roman and Edward Albert Gibbons and his wife, Marion G. (Calamaro) Gibbons. She is predeceased by her brothers, Raymond and Harold Edwards, and John and William Gibbons. She is also survived and loved by many nieces and nephews and extended family members. Evie was a graduate of Springfield Township Montgomery County High School in 1944 and received her registered nurse degree from Philadelphia General Hospital in 1947. She became the nurse manager at Harston Hall Nursing Home in Flourtown, Pa. Following a change of ownership of the facility she obtained a nursing position at Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia and at her retirement moved to Wyndmoor. She was dearly loved in her community by her neighbors. She took a volunteer position with the Springfield Township Ambulance to continue her love of helping people in her everyday life. Evie was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Wyndmoor teaching children on Sundays and also Vacation Bible School. A Memorial Service will be held for Evie on January 28 at Grace Lutheran Church in Wyndmoor at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Grace Lutheran Church, 801 E. Willow Grove Avenue, Wyndmoor, PA 19038. Interment will be private.
