Frank Loughran, passed away May 1 at 99, leaving behind a legacy of service, family, and community involvement.

Frank graduated from the William Penn Charter School and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania W ‘45. At Penn he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta, participated in many sports and the NROTC Unit. After graduation from Penn he received his commission in the Navy Reserves and served aboard an LSM in the South Pacific. He retired Lieutenant Commander in the United States Naval Reserve (USNR).

Frank is pre-deceased by his wife, Mary Lees “ML” McKinney Loughran. Together they raised six children: John (Peggy), Sarah (Mike), Robin (Terry), Andrew (deceased), Mary Ellen McMichael (Mac, deceased), and Frances Ann (Paul). He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren, and great grandfather to five.

A long-time resident of Montgomery County, Frank lived in Flourtown, Erdenheim, Schwenksville and Lansdale. He and ML were cherished residents for the past 20 years at Dock Woods, Lansdale. His professional life included working in the family real estate company and Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command.

Frank was a lifetime member of the Flourtown Fire Company, a dedicated member of his various parishes and a former member and committee chair at the Philadelphia Cricket Club. His interests were many including sailing, golf, squash, reading, gardening, travel and history. He was a proud member of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Frank was a lifetime volunteer for many causes, demonstrating his commitment to helping others. In his retirement, he continued to give back by reading to and tutoring youth in elementary schools. He enjoyed participating in many activities and committees at Dock Woods. Frank was devout in his faith and enjoyed being a liturgical reader and writing the morning breakfast prayers.

Frank's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family, his community, his faith and his country. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on May 16th at St. Maria Goretti, Hatfield. Visitation 9:30, Mass 10:30. Burial to follow, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Living Branches Benevolent Care Fund: Living Branches Foundation, 275 Dock Drive, Lansdale, PA 19446.
