Hea Sun Cho

Apr 15, 1949 — Oct 30, 2026

Hea Sun Cho, 77, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2026, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Born on April 15, 1949 in Seoul, Korea, to Byung Won Kim and Won Sik Yang, Hea Sun was raised with a deep appreciation for education. She graduated from Ewha High School in 1968 and went on to earn a degree in English from Sacred Heart College in 1972. That same pivotal year, she immigrated to the United States and later married her beloved husband, Tai Yong Cho, in 1973. Together, they settled in New York, where they built a beautiful life and raised their family.

Hea Sun was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She also brought her sharp intellect to Taihan Television Broadcasting, where she served as Vice President from 1988 through 1992 in New York City.

Beyond her achievements, Hea Sun embraced life’s simple pleasures. She found immense joy in spending time with her family and friends, traveling, spending days at the beach, and hiking through Rockefeller State Park. Gifted with a creative spirit, she loved painting, found laughter in Korean comedies, and expressed her deep love for her family by cooking delicious, traditional Korean meals.

She is remembered for her grace, sense of humor, discerning eye, and unwavering spirit and determination, and she will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Tai; her three children, Robert, Richard and Susan; her six grandchildren, Tai Jameson, Jules, Scarlett, Margot, Ezra and Kane; and her sisters, Hae Ok Kim and Haesook Kim, and brother, Kibum Kim.

In accordance with Hea Sun’s wishes, a private, family-only graveside service will be held on November 14, 2026.

The Cho family deeply appreciates the love, support and condolences they have received during this difficult time. While the interment will remain intimate, they wish to celebrate Hea Sun’s life with all who knew and love her. A memorial luncheon in New York City will be held at future date to honor her life with details to be shared once finalized.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her name be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation: https://give.bcrf.org/donate/.
