DWYER James G. Dwyer, 84, of Flourtown, PA, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2020 at Artman Home. Jim was co-owner of Walter A. Dwyer, Inc., a 145 year old family-owned heating and cooling company. He was born and raised in Chestnut Hill and graduated from Our Mother of Consolation School, LaSalle College High School, and Villanova University. He was life-long rabid fan of Villanova athletics, often going on road trips to both football and basketball games traveling as far away as Puerto Rico. The Phillies were also a favorite of Jim’s. He listened to or watched nearly every game each season. Jim was a local pitching legend in the Chestnut Hill-Mt. Airy neighborhood, pitching well into his twenties. Locals tell of people crowding on to the sledding hills at Water Tower Recreation Center on the nights he was scheduled to pitch. He later had a tryout with the San Francisco Giants. Jim is predeceased by four brothers (Walt, Jack, Bill, and Dick), and a sister, Mary. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Mother of Consolation Church in Chestnut Hill on Friday, January 8th, at 10 AM. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
