Lorraine C. Thomas, born on July 9, 1928, in Dunmore, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph Villa in Flourtown, Pennsylvania, on January 29, 2026, following a brief illness. Lorraine was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose spirit and warmth touched the lives of many. Lorraine lived for 40 years in Wyndmoor and the last 30 years at the funeral home in Chestnut Hill. January 27th would have been her 75th wedding anniversary.
Lorraine was the cherished daughter of a close-knit family, and she carried those values throughout her life. She devoted herself fully to her family, embracing her roles with joy and dedication. Lorraine’s loving husband, Joseph C. Thomas, Sr., preceded her in death, along with her dear daughter, Nancy Cute, and her siblings, Walter Wolff, Eleanor Anderson, Donald Wolff, Ruth Pagnozzi, and Edward Wolff. Their absence left an indelible mark on Lorraine's heart, yet she carried their memories with grace and strength.
The family Lorraine leaves behind is a testament to her love and legacy. She is survived by her daughter, Rosemary Schoendorfer, and her son-in-law, Dean Schoendorfer, her son, Joseph C. Thomas, and his wife, Alyssa. Her loving embrace extended to her son-in-law, James Cute.
Lorraine is also survived by her grandchildren: Jim Cute (Nicole), Kate Ross (Roger), Mike Cute (Liz), Dean Schoendorfer (Liz), Brian Schoendorfer (Beth), Mary Woitena (Andrew), Charlotte Thomas, Ethan Thomas, and Madeleine Thomas. Each one of her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and her affection for them was evident in every interaction. Additionally, she was blessed with 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Lorraine's life will be held at Our Mother of Consolation Church in Chestnut Hill on February 4, 2026, starting at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Lorraine will be remembered for her radiant spirit, her unwavering love for her family, and her contributions to the communities she graced. She leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew her. Though her physical presence will be missed, the memories she created and the love she spread will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
