Marie T. McMenamin

d. October 12, 2021

Marie McMenamin (nee Rigney) passed away on October 12, 2021 surrounded by her family, following a brief illness. Marie is survived by her loving husband, Michael (Frank) McMenamin, and five children, Marie Teresa, Mike (Eileen), Susan (Jerry), Patty (Joe) Sergio, and Colleen, grand children Joey (Melanie), Christina (Ned), Megan (Keith), Alison, Stephen, Sarah, Ashley, Nicole, and two beautiful great grandchildren, June and Ava. Marie grew up in Chestnut Hill, and eventually met the love of her life, with whom she enjoyed 64 wonderful years of marriage. Marie and her husband Frank moved to Wyndmoor, raised their family, and eventually split their time in retirement between North Wales, PA and Beach Haven West. NJ. Marie was not only the love of Frank’s life, but an integral part of his business success by handling the bookkeeping functions of his Flourtown gas station and later, Oreland auto body shop. This allowed Frank to focus upon the daily aspects of running his businesses. Marie was an avid reader, enjoyed painting and loved the Jersey shore. Marie’s family was the center of her life. Marie was known for creating a home that was a safe place to fall, when the world got too heavy or hectic. Her family benefitted from her unwavering, unconditional love and wisdom. When her children were young, she helped out at Seven Dolors School, was a Cub Scout Den Mother, Girl Scout Cookie Chairman, and endured many long, cold and/or rainy afternoons as she cheered on her children’s performances at various sporting events, games and recitals. Once the grandchildren arrived on the scene, Marie became famous for her New Year’s Eve party where the grandkids would enjoy ginger ale in cocktail glasses, an array of savory appetizers and lots of fun activities to ring in the new year, allowing their parents to take a breather, go out and celebrate with a date night. During the summer, she spent many beautiful sunny days, laughing with husband Frank and her grandkids as they enjoyed crabbing off of their dock. Marie was always a generous and giving person with a loving heart. Each year, Marie sent numerous personalized holiday cards and bags of candy and cookies to deployed military members through Operation Christmas Card for Troops Overseas. Marie was predeceased by her parents, James and Elizabeth Rigney, brother Jim, and grandson Michael. Marie’s family will miss her beautiful smile, sweet laughter, sense of humor, and loving heart. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters, Convent of Divine Love, 2212 Green Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130-3197.
