Loughran “ML” Mary Lees (McKinney) In ML’s words - “there is never a dull moment!” ML, 97, resident of Lansdale Pa, formerly of Erdenheim, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 9th, 2022. ML is predeceased by her son Andrew Paul and is survived by her husband of 75 years, Frank and her children John Loughran (Peggy), Sarah Loughran Trager (Mike), Alfred “Robin” Loughran (Terry), Mary Ellen McMichael (Malcolm, deceased) and Frances Ann Garvey (Paul) as well as 9 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and the extended Loughran and McKinney family. ML is a 1942 graduate (lifer) of Germantown Friends School and the class of 1946 at the University of Pennsylvania. “Kinney” was renowned for her athletics at GFS, Penn and beyond. At Penn, ML was on the field hockey, golf, swimming, softball and tennis teams and was a member of the Delta, Delta, Delta sorority. A longtime member of the Philadelphia Cricket Club, ML and Frank were very active in club committees and running junior sports activities. ML served as President of the PCC’s Associate’s branch. ML enjoyed competing in golf and field hockey for PCC. ML spent many years in service to her church, St. Thomas, Whitemarsh PA where she was on the Vestry and helped run “The Barn” and the kitchen - cooking for crowds of 200 was a chip shot! After moving to Harleysville ML was active in her local church, Church of the Holy Spirit. Over her extraordinary 97 years, ML taught at Plymouth Meeting Friends, was a host parent and chapter president of AFS, volunteered with the American Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, Girl Scouts (Troop 459), St. Genevieve’s CYO and within her Dock Woods community. She drove a school bus (14 years) for the Springfield Township school district and was loved by her colleagues and her passengers. ML was very active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Flourtown Fire Company, Penn’s Association of Alumnae and Class of 1946 at Penn. At her 70th Penn reunion, she was honored to be the Grand Marshall of the Alumni Day Parade and to sit on the dais with then president, Amy Gutman. ML touched many souls with her quick wit, service, leadership and clear communication of her thoughts - you always knew where you stood with ML! She will be missed by many, many people and we are all the better for having known and loved our mother, sister, cousin, wife, in-law, friend - our ML.
