Mary Jean Melissen Dieckhaus (nee Glenn) went to her final reward on August 25, 2019. She is predeceased by her son Larry, sister Trish and husband Ben. Survived by 15 of her 16 children, 23 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and five stepchildren. Beloved mother of Tish Ries (Joe), Sammy, Angel Shea (Dick), Leo (Tina), Tom (Bonnie), Carl (Mickie), Gerry (Fiona), Jack (Patty), Paul (Megan), Bernie, Mary Kane (James/Freddie), Evie, Rob (Erin), Bill (Megan), Carrie, and Richard Dieckhaus (Christine), Greg Dieckhaus, Loretta Dombalagian, Tim Dieckhaus (Kim), Joan Luter (Stephen,) and her dear brother Gerry Glenn (Eileen). Besides caring for her own children, numerous foster children and foster families, Mary Jean worked as a registered nurse in hospitals and nursing homes throughout her life. She will be remembered for her kind and generous heart, and her cinnamon buns and Challah. Mom passed on her love of gardens, birds, baking, cheese, swimming and chocolate, but above all, her love of all babies – to her children and grandchildren. A viewing will be held on Friday, August 30th, 2019 at 9 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, 140 East Mt. Airy Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19119.
