Mary Tyler Whitney

WHITNEY MARY TYLER BROCK 88, died August 5, 2017. Born in Wyncote, PA, Mary Tyler lived all her life in Philadelphia. She married W. Beaumont Whitney III in 1951 and together raised four children. She worked for many years at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and upon her retirement, became a docent at the Philadelphia Zoo. Always a passionate gardener and animal lover, she was involved not only with the animals, but also in the horticulture area. Mary Tyler is preceded in death by her husband and daughter Rosina. She is survived by her children, Aurelia W. Lowry (William), William B. Whitney, IV (Suzanne) and Mary Tyler Webster (Henry), 7 grand-children and 3 great-grand-children. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 2, 2017, 11:00AM at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Church in Chestnut Hill. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to The Philadelphia Zoo or Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
