Our beloved Robert “Robbie” Scull Goudy, loving husband, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, passed away on Friday, May 11, 2018. A resident of Altmar, New York since 2007 and formerly of Chestnut Hill, Goudy was born on January 2, 1965, in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Russell and Rebecca Goudy. After graduating from Plymouth Whitemarsh High School in 1983, he worked for the family business, Kilian Hardware, in Chestnut Hill for over 20 years. Always following his independent, creative instincts, Goudy used the front window of the store to showcase the shining guitars for sale that were brought back to life again through his masterful repairs and re-workings. An expert on researching and restoring classic rock guitars, Goudy founded and operated Chestnut Hill Guitars for 30 years and authored the book Electric Guitars, published in 1999. He married Christine “Teana” Slater on September 18, 2010. Goudy also helped create and operate 11 North Bar & Grill, located in Pulaski, New York. An avid motorcycle and motocross racer, he was a long-standing member of US MX Motocross and the Pulaski-Boylston Snowmobile Club. Goudy was a very kind hearted and talented man. He actively pursued a lively passion for guitars, music, and motorcycles. If it had an engine or a motor, he could fix it. He loved walking his dogs Kashmir and Bella on his motocross track. Robbie was fearless and unstoppable. He would head towards a hurricane to catch the best waves when an evacuation was in process, demonstrating how he lived his entire life. Surviving are his wife Teana of Altmar, NY, parents, Russell Sr. and Rebecca Goudy of Gwynedd, two brothers, Russell (Hope-Finola, Noëlle, Rowan) Goudy Jr., of Chestnut Hill and Keith (Shelby-Oakley, Van) Goudy of Chicago, IL, father in-law, Michael Nolan Jr. of Collegeville, PA, one sister in-law, Jackie Slater (Tyler, Tiffany, Elijah) of Parish, one brother in-law and Michael Nolan III (Zane) of Tripoli, PA. A celebration of Goudy’s life will be held at the Flourtown Country Club on May 25th. Friends and Family may call at 9:30. Services will begin at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be sent in Rob’s name to Montgomery County SPCA, 19 E. Ridge Pike, PO Box 222, Conshohocken, PA 19428-0222.
