Tacy Gallagher

d. June 15, 2025

Tacy Gallagher (nee Kline) passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025 at the age of 102 at Wyncote Place, where she had resided for the past year receiving the care she needed from the kind and compassionate staff. She is predeceased by her husband, Robert. She is survived by her daughter Susan and son Michael (Cindy), three grandchildren Matthew (Kelly), Daniel (Helen), and Jaclyn (Tyler Selige) and four great-grandchildren.

Tacy grew up in Mt. Airy, the “baby” of the family being the youngest of five children. She related stories from her childhood including that her father was a milkman but ironically none of his children liked milk; and, that when her father took them for ice cream and all five would ask for a different flavor, he would always come back with five strawberry ice cream cones. One of Tacy’s childhood nicknames was “Tacykake” so it made her smile when, without knowing that history, one of her wonderful caregivers at Wyncote Place started calling her “Tacykake.”

Tacy graduated from Hallahan Catholic Girls’ High School and worked for a time in the purchasing department of Leeds & Northrup, a manufacturing company. She enjoyed photography, participated in company photo contests, and had multiple photographs she had taken of various pets and children in her life printed in the company publication. She married Robert in 1953 and they moved to Wyndmoor with their two children in 1962. Tacy took great care of her family and their home and she continued to take care of her home for many years. She liked to garden and, with a continued interest in photography, took quite a few beautiful pictures of the flowers and landscape around her home.

Tacy also loved dogs, took charge of training the family pets, and often expressed how much she still missed her last dog, Randy – her “Ran-Ban” as she called him. She liked playing sports as a child and as an adult followed the Phillies and the Philadelphia Eagles, happily anticipating the numerous phone calls she would receive from her niece, Connie, who would call to express either excitement or dismay over the happenings in each game. Tacy was also a soap opera fan from the days of watching “As the World Turns” and “Guiding Light” with her mother to watching “General Hospital” for decades with her daughter.

Tacy loved spending time with her grandchildren and played croquet and wiffle ball with them in the backyard when they were young. She helped take care of her first grandchild before he started school and got a kick out of playing “Trash man” and counting all of the big trucks that went by on the highway with him. She loved watching the three grow up and was proud of the adults they grew into. She was blessed to be able to meet her four little great-grandchildren, one of whom was born on Tacy’s birthday, exactly 100 years apart.

Tacy displayed her sense of humor even in circumstances she would have preferred to have been different. Another of her wonderful caregivers, when giving her medicine that did not taste good at all, would say “not too bad, TayTay” to which Tacy would inevitably respond “not too good either.” This sense of humor along with Tacy’s sweet but determined personality will be greatly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on June 23rd at Saint Genevieve Church, 1225 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown, PA. Visitation will begin at 9:00am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am with interment to follow immediately after at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
