Theodore Fonash

Apr 25, 1941 — Jun 27, 2026

Theodore “Ted” Fonash, cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away June 27, 2026. Known for his easy-going nature and commitment to loved ones, Ted's warmth and kindness touched many lives, leaving a lasting legacy of love that was constant, steady, and unmistakable.

Some people leave their mark on the world through grand gestures. Others leave it through quiet strength, unwavering devotion, and dedication to the people they love. Ted Fonash was one of those remarkable people.

Ted was a steadfast, supportive, devoted, and family-oriented man whose greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends. At the center of his world was the love of his life, his wife, Judie. They were married in September of 1967 and shared a lifetime built on love, partnership, and commitment. From the day they married until his final days, Ted’s thoughts were always about Judie. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, unconditional love, and laughter. Leaving an indelible mark that continues through their children, grandchildren, and everyone who knew them.

For more than 60 years, Ted was a dedicated member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 98. He was dedicated to his career and very proud of the work he contributed to in many places throughout Philadelphia. His final job before retirement was involved in the construction of Lincoln Financial Field.

As his family grew, so did his joy. He treasured every moment with his grandchildren. He adored taking them to sports practice, spending days at the beach, going apple picking, attending NASCAR races, or setting off on adventures to discover somewhere new together.

Ted found happiness in the everyday moments he shared with family and friends. His presence was one of comfort and reassurance. He was always there with a smile and a hug. He enjoyed spending summers in Ocean City, NJ. He was an avid NASCAR fan and spent many enjoyable hours with lifelong friends working on race cars and traveling to racing events.

His legacy is not measured by titles or possessions, but by the countless lives he touched, the family he so faithfully loved, and the quiet example he set each day. Through his humility, tireless work ethic, gentle spirit, and unwavering love, Ted taught those around him that the greatest measure of a life is in how we show up for the people that matter most.He is predeceased by his loving wife, Judie Fonash, and his parents, Anne and Harvey Fonash. He is survived by his brother Thomas Fonash; his wife, Cathy Fonash; his children, Alicia Fonash-Willett and husband Francis Willett; T.J. Fonash and wife Stacey Fonash; and Bryan Fonash. As well as his four beloved grandsons, Logan Willett, Connor Fonash, Casey Fonash, and Aidan Willett, along with friends and neighbors.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 11, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Mother of Consolation Church. A private interment will follow.
